Prior to the launch of the new website, Hull's inward investment agency, Hull Forward, comprised two websites, one to promote inward investment itself and one that provided information about the company Hull City Build. The distinction of purpose between the two sites was blurred, however, with some content being duplicated across both. Although visually engaging, there was no CMS in place, making updates to content difficult and time consuming. The information on the sites remained static and quickly became out of date, giving the audience no reason to return to either site. Together we devised a plan for a new website that would combine the content of both sites, would be easy to manage and update, and would be visually engaging and easy to navigate.
As the two sites would be merging, an extensive review of content was conducted for relevance and site structure. As the amount of content and the needs of the various users were so vast and so varied, the functionality of the site also needed to be quite extensive. The website incorporates animated flash banners, video streaming, and external event feeds as well as a secure bondholder area that integrates with Hull Forward's Tractivity (RE:SYSTEM's bespoke CRM) installation. To ensure ease of maintenance the new site was implemented on our in house content management system, with many new modules of functionality developed to meet Hull Forward's specific requirements. The marketing team at Hull Forward has found the CMS very easy to use and now keep their website updated with news, events, and relevant information on a regular basis.
